The Leisure Center opens at 7:30am.
Lunch is included.

All Creative Corners Preschool classes are canceled.
All other regularly scheduled programs will run.

Des Plaines Announces Overnight Warming Center at Prairie Lakes Community Center
DES PLAINES, Illinois (January 28, 2019) – The City of Des Plaines, in partnership with the Des Plaines Park District, has announced the opening of an overnight cold-weather warming center in anticipation of frigid night-time temperatures from Tuesday, January 29th through Thursday, January 31st, 2019.
The Des Plaines Warming Center is located at the Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker Street. The location will open its doors to those in need from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 A.M. for all three evenings. After 9:00 A.M., overnight guests and residents who find themselves in need of a warm, safe environment are encouraged to utilize any of the following day-time Cook County Township warming centers:
Elk Grove Township:

Niles Township:
5255 Lincoln Ave.
Skokie, IL
9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday

PLEASE NOTE: Temporary transportation to warming centers is not available.
Des Plaines Police Chief William Kushner is asking everyone to take precautions during the forecasted periods of extreme cold. “I am advising people to limit their time outside, wear layers of warm clothing, watch for signs of frostbite or hypothermia, and check on family members and neighbors.”
Kushner continues, “The Des Plaines Warming Center offers a welcoming and safe place where community members can spend the night and avoid the extreme cold and hazardous conditions that could negatively impact the health and well-being of individuals in need.”
Guests of the center will be offered beverages and snacks, access to bathrooms, and the ability to rest over-night in a warm environment.
