ARTISTRY IN MOTION DANCE COMPANY 2016-2017
Mission Statement: To provide our dancers multiple opportunities to perform and share their love of dance with the community. Our goal is to nurture a student’s ambition to grow into a versatile dancer and a well-rounded performer.
Artistry in Motion Dance Company is a national award-winning dance company, now in its 13th season. It is designed for the dedicated dancer, who also loves to perform. This diverse and multi-talented company self-produces a 2 show season at Prairie Lakes Theatre: Winter Spectacular and Spring Showcase. Dancers also perform and have become a highlight at various community events throughout the year. Experienced company members compete and attend dance conventions and workshops, to further their dance training. Artistry in Motion Dance Company promotes a deep appreciation of dance as it provides an environment for learning. It offers a venue for students to understand and develop performance techniques, while experiencing various dance styles.
Dancers must be 6 years old and entering 1st grade in the fall to be considered for one of these companies. Students must audition for placement and have experience with ballet, jazz, and/or tap. If you are interested in joining one of these exciting companies, please contact Laura Witter, Artistic Director, at 847-391-6924, or via email at AiM@dpparks.org.
The AiM Companies; Senior, Intermediate, Jr. A, Jr. B meet three times a week and focus mostly on ballet and jazz technique, with some lyrical, modern, & hip-hop choreography. Dancers are required to take an additional Ballet technique class and are encouraged to take classes in multiple disciplines. These are competitive companies and compete at 4 regional competitions, with the option of traveling to Nationals over the summer.
The Rhythm Companies meet twice a week to work on tap specific technique and choreography. Dancers are required to take an additional Ballet technique class and are encouraged to take classes in multiple disciplines. These are competitive companies and compete at 4 regional competitions, with the option of traveling to Nationals over the summer.
The AiMPerformers Company will meet twice a week for rehearsal. Members are required to take a ballet class with the Des Plaines School of Dance. Dancers in AMP will NOT be involved in dance competitions. The focus of this company will be performance and building strong technical dancers. This is a great introduction for those dancers who are interested in building the skills necessary to compete in the future, or for dancers who are interested in being a part of a company, but with less commitment than the competitive groups.
