BUDGET AND APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE
The District is required to approve and adopt its annual budget and appropriation ordinance before or within the first quarter of the fiscal year. Before approval, the budget is available for public inspection, and a public hearing is held.
Fiscal Year
The Des Plaines Park District operates from May 1 – April 30.
Financial MANAGEMENT
Annual Financial Report for Fiscal Year Ended April 30th, 2024
The Des Plaines Park District prepares an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Compensation
The Des Plaines Park District will provide an itemized compensating report for all employees who have a compensation package over $75,000. Compensation packages exceeding $150,000 are available for review 6 days prior to approval. To request this information, contact us by calling (847)391-5700.
Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF)
Employer Cost & Participant Information
In 2019, the Illinois General Assembly passed Public Act 101-0504. The law requires IMRF to post certain employer cost and participation information on its website. IMRF will update these reports annually. As an IMRF employer, we are required to provide you with this link to the IMRF website.
Treasurer’s Report
Effective January 1, 2013, the Public Funds Statement Publication Act no longer requires publication of the Annual Statement of Receipts and Disbursements (i.e. Annual Treasurer’s Report) if the following is met:
- An audit has been made by a certified public accountant.
- A report of such audit has been filed with the County Clerk.
- A notice of availability of the audit report is published one time in an English language newspaper published in the District in which the public officer holds his or her office.
Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The Des Plaines Park District has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada each year since 1995. This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.
