Relay For Life

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to end cancer. More than 5,000 Relay events will take place nationwide, uniting communities across the globe to fight back against the disease. With every dollar raised, you are helping those affected by every cancer in every community, including those who are currently dealing with a cancer diagnosis, those who may face a diagnosis in the future and those who may avoid a diagnosis altogether because of education and risk reduction. The North Central Cook County Relay For Life encompasses Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, Park Ridge, Prospect Heights and Wheeling, Illinois. Together, we are a larger, stronger, united community, working together for the same cause!

Relay For Life is a unique 6 hour family-oriented community fundraising event. Some of the highlights of our Relay include a survivor/family reception, survivor and caregiver recognition and a luminaria ceremony, in which we honor and remember those who have battled this disease. Admission to our event is free. You can visit our onsite fundraisers (raffles, bake sales, food vendors, face painting… just to name a few) and enjoy free entertainment. Last year’s local North Central Cook County Relay For Life event raised over $60,000 for the American Cancer Society!

If you have ever wondered how you can make a difference, you can:

•Be a corporate sponsor. There are opportunities to have your name on the Relay event t-shirt, to display your company banner during the event, and to show you are a leader in the community.

•Form or join a team. Employees, friends and family members of all ages are welcome to join us for this worthwhile cause. Together we raise money, while supporting those with cancer and honoring those we have lost.

•Make a monetary donation or a donation to our on-site raffle. More than ever before, cancer survivors and their caregivers need our support. In Illinois, the American Cancer Society offers a wide variety of service programs and support. The Hope Lodge, Road to Recovery, One-on-One Peer Support and Reach to Recovery are just a few.

•Come out and enjoy the opening ceremonies and stay for the honoring of our corporate sponsors, the survivor/caregiver recognition, onsite fundraisers, entertainment and our memorable luminaria ceremony.

•Register a cancer survivor online or at the event to enjoy the festivities and be honored at our event.

Relay is a grass roots effort and we look toward businesses and organizations to help by donating gift certificates, raffle items, food and drink to help make our event fun and rewarding. You can also support our efforts by making a monetary contribution to sponsor our event. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
