Park Board Vacancy
The Des Plaines Park District Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Park Board.
Board vacancies are filled through an appointment process requiring a majority vote of the remaining board members. Applicants must be registered voters who resided within the Des Plaines Park District boundaries for at least one year. The selected candidate will serve the remainder of the unexpired term until the next regularly scheduled election in April 2027.
Serving without compensation, park district board members are crucial in guiding the district’s mission and vision. They establish policies, approve budgets and tax levies, oversee operational and capital expenditures, and collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure the continued success of park district initiatives. The Des Plaines Park District is committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents by connecting people, neighborhoods, and communities.
