You’ll see this sign on a gravel pathway in front of Prairie Lakes Community Center, in a protected area where a Northern Map Turtle recently dug her nest. Please be kind, and careful. There’s nothing to see now, but in 60–90 days we expect the eggs to hatch. Unlike Painted Turtles, which build nests on the shores of the ponds at Prairie Lakes, Northern Map Turtles prefer a gravel surface that’s farther from the the water.
