Des Plaines Memorial Pet Tree
The holiday season is a time when we reflect on special animals who made an impact in our lives. While we cannot celebrate with them we can continue to celebrate the life we had with them. Residents are welcome to display keepsakes or mementos representing a pet who is no longer with us. This heartfelt tree is an opportunity to celebrate the joy and love our furry, feathered, or scaly companions have brought to us. Whether you’re remembering a beloved pet who has passed or celebrating a current one, this tree will be a beautiful tribute to the animals we hold dear.
Here’s how you can participate:
• Bring an Ornament: Personalize an ornament with your pet’s name, photo, or any meaningful design.
• Share Your Memories: Write a small note or memory about your pet to be displayed near the tree.
The Pet Memorial Tree located in front of Prairie Lakes Community Center 515 E Thacker St. Des Plaines, IL 60016 will be marked as a tribute to those who wish to display and memorialize. This decorated temporary tree is located in the butterfly garden between the Theater and Community Center’s front entrance near the drive up to the Prairie Lakes building.
Memento drop off begins on Saturday, December 7 and will be displayed through Wednesday, January 15.
Residents are encouraged to remove the mementos by January 15 when the season comes to an end or staff will keep them for next year. Together, let’s create a beautiful tribute to our pets and embrace the spirit of the season.
