Des Plaines Friends of the Parks

The Des Plaines Friends of the Parks is a volunteer organization dedicated to enriching the lives of the youth of Des Plaines. We sponsor a number of fun events throughout the year, and provide scholarships for participation in Des Plaines Park District programs.

PROGRAM AND SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS

The Des Plaines Friends of the Parks offers financial scholarships, for Des Plaines Park District programs and Summer Camps, to families with limited incomes residing within the District 62, Maine West High School, and the Des Plaines Park District boundaries. Educational Scholarships, for Creative Corners Preschool Classes are also available (see below).

Parents and guardians who are interested in a program/camp financial scholarship should download and fill out this application completely, and return to:

All requests will be reviewed and successful applicants will be contacted by mail. A credit will be applied to the program/camp your child is registered for. You will be responsible for registering your child in the program by mail, fax, or in person. Online registrations will not be accepted. Enrollment is first-come, first-served. Scholarship credit must be used by December 31 of this calendar year.

There is a maximum awarded amount of $125 per child per year and not to exceed $500 per family per year. You also may apply the scholarship to another program or class of your choice, if the one you originally registered for is cancelled.

EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

The Des Plaines Friends of the Parks, through the generosity of Rivers Casino, is proud to offer up to 14 full tuition educational scholarships for families with limited income residing within Community Consolidated School District 62 or the city of Des Plaines. These scholarships are valid for Des Plaines Park District educational programming for School Year September 9, 2019 – May 15, 2020. Recipients will be notified by phone on July 16, 2019 with a follow-up letter in the mail of their award status. You will be responsible for registering your child for the educational program by mail, fax, or in person. If a registration has already been processed, a credit will be applied to your account. Online registrations are not accepted at this time. Enrollment is first-come, first-served.

Applications are due by noon on Monday, July 15, 2019.

GOLF IN THE DARK

Our most important fundraising event each year is the popular Golf in the Dark event at the Lake Park Golf Course.
An evening of fun glow-in-the-dark-golf, with food & drinks, prizes & raffles—all for a great cause!
Plus, it’s a great opportunity for businesses to help sponsor our organization,
and provide much needed scholarship money for Des Plaines youth.
